Labor Day in Houston

We have made it a tradition to spend Labor Day weekend with Doug and Martha and the Doty family. We have such a wonderful time goofing off and playing with the kids that it is always sad when the weekend is over. This year was wonderful as always with great friends, excellent food, and fun times at Doug and Martie's neighborhood pool. The girls had a blast splashing around in the pool in their matching bathing suits.

Play Date with the Bunnies

Elodie and Lily Margaret were invited to Auntie Anne's house to play with her bunnies. It probably was the most humid August morning ever!! That of course did not stop them just made it uncomfortable for everyone else. The majority of the the time John, Anne, Samuel and Geoffrey tried to keep the bunnies from escaping. It was a blast and quite funny to watch.

Chocolate Love

If there was ever any doubt that Elodie was my daughter, well not anymore. Elodie was introduced, by accident, to chocolate and it was love at first bite. I was unloading the dishwasher when Elodie came in to the kitchen and was digging in the pantry. This wasn't unusual so I told her to close it and she went back to the living where I thought she was watching Sesame Street.
I started to hear the rustle of plastic and I couldn't imagine what that could be. I called to her to come and show me what she found and in walks a very proud little girl saying, "yum, yum, yum." While she was in the pantry she found an unopened box of cookies and took it back with her to the living room. She managed to open the box, open the plastic surrounding the cookies and helped herself to a morning treat. Until then I hadn't given her any chocolate. When I looked in the living room she had all the cookies laid out on the ottoman ready to be devoured. She was so proud of herself that I thought I should let her eat one cookie but in a contained area....her high chair. I've never heard such happy sounds from her while eating before.

I was proud of myself for letting her get so dirty and not try to keep her clean.

To make myself feel better we ended the "meal" with some fruit!

Hot August Nights

Well it was so hot this summer that we pretty much stayed inside until after dinner when the temperature had dropped to only 90 degrees. We spent many a night playing in the backyard with our many water toys and our roller coaster that cousin Gray passed down to us. There is something about the sound of the cicada's in the background and having sunlight until almost 9 pm.

The water table provided hours of fun this summer.

Dress Up Time

When it gets too quiet in the house I know Little Bit is up to something or into something. Here's what I found one day in July. Elodie kept repeating "pretty" over and over!

Cousin Time

While we were in Morgan City Elodie got to spend some quality time with all her relatives especially her sweet cousin Addison. The girls played together in the pool in Gammy and Paw Paw's back yard. I think at one point there was more water outside of the pool than inside.
